There was an incredible showing of student projects in the LMC during January. Additionally, the 7th grade STEM students visited the LMC to learn how to do a great Science Fair project with tips from CHS Science Teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Sewell. Enjoy the pictures below of students' work for the Social Studies Fair, the Science Fair and 7th grade visit, and the Literature Book Projects from Mr. Bryson's class. Every course has a final exam at CHS. The following eight classes use the Georgia Milestones End-of-Course online tests as a final measure of student learning and to measure student achievement for our school:
The site can be accessed at: http://www.gaexperienceonline.com. Enjoy practicing! On Friday, November 13, 2015, Mr. Stacy Lawler (CHS Assistant Principal and CTAE/STEM Director) and Mrs. Stephanie Holloway (CHS Library Media Specialist) were invited to present at the South Carolina AdvancED Conference in Columbia, South Carolina. Their presentation was titled "Prove It," and they had the honor of sharing how CHS documented evidence on the CHS STEM website to earn AdvancED STEM certification. They were invited to present with Dr. Dereck Rhoads (Chief Instructional Services Officer, Beaufort County School District) and Mrs. Alesia Burnette (Executive Director of Elementary Education, Rowan-Salisbury Schools). For more information about the CHS STEM Program or AdvancED STEM Certification or to visit our school, please contact [email protected]. Take the SAT/ACT Practice Test – September 12
Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm (arrive by 8:40 am) Where: CHS Cafeteria (bring calculator and #2 pencils) Cost: $10 Registration: Sign up and pay Mrs. Ingui Deadline is September 9 Limited to first 100 students Sponsored by: CHS Academic Booster Club & CHS Career Center The Practice SAT/ACT Test gives students the chance to build confidence and endurance in test-taking abilities while experiencing the actual test-taking scenario. Saturday, September 12, the CHS Career Center and CHS Academic Booster Club are offering a Practice SAT/ACT test to students in the CHS Cafeteria. Students should arrive by 8:40 am to check in. They need to bring two #2 pencils and an approved calculator (TI-83 or 84 are approved along with scientific calculators; TI-89 are not approved). The test will begin promptly at 9:00 am. Late arrivals will be seated but not given extra time. Food and drink are not permitted during the test, though we recommend bringing a snack for test breaks. When you take a Practice SAT/ACT, scores are NOT sent to the College Board. Students alone receive the scores. This type of practice test will help you decide whether you need to take a prep course before you take the real SAT or ACT, and it will help students decide which of the two tests might be better for his/her test-taking style. The cost for this Practice SAT/ACT experience is $10 and must be paid to Mrs. Ingui by September 9. The maximum number of students who can participate is 100, so sign up early to guarantee a spot. Please take advantage of this great test exercise! You are invited to attend the Carrollton High School Open House tomorrow, August 13th, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Open House begins in the Joshua Mabry Center for the Arts and concludes with visits to your student's classrooms and teachers.
Carrollton High School students will receive their 2015-2016 schedules and advisement assignments at Trojan Business Day on Tuesday, July 28, in the CHS cafeteria.
Students should report by grade level at the following times: Seniors 8:00-9:30; Juniors 9:30-11:00; Sophomores 11:00-12:30; and Freshmen 12:30-2:00. Students who are not able to attend Trojan Business Day may come by the high school between July 29 and Aug. 5 to pick up their schedules in preparation for the start of school. In order for students to receive their schedules, all fines and non-resident balances must be paid in full. Payments can be made at Trojan Business Day by cash, money order, credit cards or debit cards. No checks will be accepted. All students will report to their adviser at 7:45 on the first day of school, Thursday, Aug. 6. Open house for CHS will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the Brenda Sue Holcombe Theater in the Mabry Center for the Arts. You can feel it in the air...it's almost time for school to begin again. Some of us are ready, and some not so much. Where did this summer go? In 2008, nine-year-old Dalton Sherman was selected to be the keynote speaker at the Dallas Independent School District’s Convocation. His words always remind me of my calling and help get me ready to begin a new school year. I hope they ring true to you, too. Now that he has your attention, are you curious what his message would be today? |
